The end of another season!

The 2014 - 2015 season has been an interesting one and concluded with a finale race which epitomised the close racing achieved by this class, regardless of age and construction type! Congratulations again to Louis and Stephen in Cocktail Cherry who eventually took the MBSC Championship on a countback and well sailed to Ian and Huwai in Eshowe for winning the Handicap series.

The start of the season saw a new member turn up in the form of Corrie and wife Jennifer who purchased a lonely Minette from Scott and gave her a loving home. Their son is and was a regular at Mounts Bay so the club was well known to them but they never had the time to get involved themselves. Unfortunately work commitments have kept them off the water most of the season but they promise next year will be better!

We then had a mass migration of sailors to the ski fields of Japan early in 2015, leaving only a few loyalists to keep the flag flying. A trip to Dunsborough Bay Yacht Club provided a level of excitement when a leisurely sail across to Meelup Beach for a picnic lunch saw an adverse change in conditions, resulting in young Morgan acknowledging he and his crew did not have the combined weight to risk the rough seas and seeking a tow behind the Embry’s cruiser followed by La Rousse breaking a main halyard and having to limp back under genoa.

A very eventful but shortened Blackwood Challenge in Augusta in March was won by Louis and Stephen in Cocktail Cherry. See here for a separate report.
